Use task checklists with students to demystify lesson objectives and help them track their progress.
Example:
Provide student with a checklist that says,
“Did I….?”
- Write an opinion statement?
- Give three supporting reasons?
- Write a concluding sentence?
- Re-read my work and ask, “Does it make sense?”?
