By giving students the opportunity to write in their home language, they are are invited to explore their literary abilities rather than focusing (and often getting stuck)on their target language only linguistic capacity.

Example:

Invite students to quick write or draft in their home language, they can then focus on developing or transforming this writing in the target language as they get further into the writing process.
