During a period, students can order tasks that need to be completed in order of preference; this promotes interest and motivation.

Example:

During Independent Reading student can order activities to be completed on a personalized schedule by ordering activities to complete during the period. The card may read, “Order these activities for your Reading period today” Choices my be: reading independently -15 minutes, reading response to previous text – 15 minutes, and sight word flash card practice – 5 minutes.
